Super Saiyan Gotenks Figuarts Zero Figure Up for Order!

There’s absolutely no doubt about it: Dragon Ball Z is the hottest thing in Bandai’s anime collectibles repertoire in 2015. But while collectors have been subjected to a near-endless parade of releases of Goku and Vegeta of late, there was still one major Saiyan (or should I say “Saiyans”?) character left to mine. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for an SH Figuarts version, but the Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks Figuarts Zero figure is now up for order!

Gotenks Bandai Figuarts Zero Exclusive Figure

Kid Trunks is my favorite character in the DBZ universe, and as far as I’m concerned, Kid Trunks can do no wrong. And so, even though Gotenks is half-comprised of that simpleton Goten, any Gotenks figures released are instant must-buys for me.

Even so, Bandai Japan hasn’t exactly tapped into my bank vault with the zero child Trunks or Gotenks figures that they’ve released… at least, they haven’t up until now! At long last, the fused children of Goku and Vegeta have arrived in Figuarts form!

Bandai Figuarts Gotenks Figure Super Saiyan 3Like most collectors, I generally prefer the super-articulated S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z figures to the non-articulated Figuarts Zero Dragonball Z statues. That said, sometimes Bandai gives us DBZ Figuarts Zero figures that are absolutely jaw-dropping–and this SSJ3 Gotenks statue is definitely an example of that!

Bandai Dragonball Z Figuarts Zero Super Saiyan Gotenks StatueWhile I really enjoy the blue-and-white translucent energy effect base of this statue, where the Figuarts Gotenks really shines is his amazing translucent yellow super-long Super Saiyan Level 3 hair! This is hands-down the best hair that Bandai Tamashii Nations has ever created for a Dragon Ball Z figure, and now I really find myself wanting to see Bandai tackle Super Saiyan 3 Goku in Figuarts Zero form as well!

With this release, all five of the surviving Saiyans from DBZ will have been captured in Figuarts Zero statue form–except for Gohan. Bandai has yet to show a prototype of a Gohan statue at any event, but I find it hard to fathom that there won’t be one in our future…

Close-Up of Bandai DBZ Figuarts Zero Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks Figure Statue

The Figuarts Zero Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks figure stands 160 mm (about 6.2″) tall and will retail overseas for 3500 jpy. Thankfully, Gotenks will also be available domestically from Bandai Tamashii Nations, who have set the MSRP for Gotenks at $37.99.

Given the high quality of the other figures that have been released in the Bandai Tamashii DBZ Figuarts Zero line–and the fact that I honestly believe this Gotenks looks better than any other release from the series–I’ve got absolutely zero complaints about the price on this statue. If anything, I’m glad SS Gotenks is so cheap!

Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks Figuarts Zero Dragon Ball Z FigureThe Dragonball Z Figuarts Zero Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks figure is now available for order, and is expected to ship out in December 2015. This figure is limited overseas, which means it very likely will not have a reissue once it sells out in the United States. If you’re like me and dying for a Bandai Gotenks, don’t miss out on pre-ordering this one!

What do you think of the very first Figuarts Gotenks figure, DBZ fans? Will you buy this FAZ SSJ3 Gotenks, or are you holding out for an SH Figuarts Gotenks (or maybe even no Gotenks at all)?
