I love me some Street Fighter III. I know it’s not cool to say that your favorite Street Fighter characters aren’t from Street Fighter II, but every single one of the original 16 Street Fighter II characters bore me to tears. Characters from Street Fighter III and the Street Fighter Alpha series are where it’s at, baby! That’s why, even though I am a huge fan of Street Fighter figures, I ended up passing on the first four Square-Enix Street Fighter IV Play Arts Kai figures. But when Square-Enix announced Ibuki last fall, they placed a strangle-hold on my wallet and my soul. Finally, Street Fighter IV Play Arts Ibuki has come home…Continue Reading→
Last week Bandai released the first Gundam UC Robot Damashii figure of 2013–the Full Armor Unicorn Gundam! This week, they’re fittingly releasing a new version of that suit’s sibling suit arch-rival, the Banshee Norn! Since the fast sell-out of last year’s Banshee Destroy Mode, fans have wanting another crack at the Banshee–and here it is, the Robot Damashii Banshee Norn (Unicorn Mode)!Continue Reading→
I got two packages in the mail yesterday–one of which I had no clue what was inside, and it turned out to be the Dragon Ball Z S.H. Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku reissue I’d forgotten about. The other package, well… I knew exactly what that was, because I’d be tracking it a couple times a day every day, even before it shipped out! A figure I never thought would be produced, I vowed to buy the Super Street Fighter Play Arts Kai Ibuki figure the moment I saw it for the first time–and yesterday, my much-anticipated Ibuki Play Arts figure finally arrived!Continue Reading→
I went to pick up my mail today and there a small package was in the mailbox that I honestly had no clue what it was. I brought it back to my apartment and sliced it open to discover that the box contained a figure I ordered so long ago that I forgot I had ordered it at all–it’s the reissue of the SH Figuarts Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan Son Goku figure by Bandai! I won’t have time to fully review Super Saiyan Goku until later in the week, but I thought Id post some quick unboxing photos and impressions of the main character of the Dragon Ball Z saga…Continue Reading→
One of the big releases of the year for the Robot Damashii (Robot Spirits) line was just released in Japan this week: the Robot Spirits Full Armor Unicorn Gundam [Unicorn Mode] Side MS figure! Now, this isn’t the first Robot Damashii Unicorn Gundam figure released–not by a longshot. The original Unicorn Gundam Robot Spirits figure came out years ago. No, what makes this Robot Damashii Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Unicorn Mode) figure special isn’t the figure itself as much as it is the absolutely insane, ridiculous amount of weapons, armor, and accessories it comes with…Continue Reading→
While the biggest branch of MegaHouse figures is indisputably their One Piece Portrait of Pirates line (and I’m covering those reviews on my One Piece toys blog, One Piece Z), MegaHouse releases 1/8 scale anime figures from a huge variety of anime series from Bleach to Gintama to Mobile Suit Gundam Seed as part of the MegaHouse G.E.M. figure line. But of all the anime encompassed in the GEM figure line, the anime nearest and dearest to my heart is Naruto Shippuden by far. So I was overjoyed to see not one but two new Naruto GEM figures at this weekend’s MegaHobby Expo Spring 2013: Sage Mode Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke!Continue Reading→
If there’s one thing that we can count on from Bandai Japan, it’s rare and expensive repaints of their deep and amazing Robot Damashii (Robot Spirits) line! Just announced for October 2013, Bandai is going back to their favorite wells for the next online Bandai Collectors Shop Web Exclusive: a Trans-Am repaint. We’ve had ample Web Exclusive Robot Tamashii Trans-Am figures in the past, and this one is very similar to those. But for the “Gundam 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer” movie fan who wants everything, here’s the Robot Damashii Gundam 00 Qan[T] Trans-Am Ver. figure!Continue Reading→
Dragon Ball Z SH Figuarts fans have been screaming out for new DBZ figure pre-order announcements for months now, and today they’ve gotten their wish!
This time it’s a character that fans have been demanding since the very beginning of the SH Figuarts Dragon Ball Z figures line: Goku’s best friend and arguably the strongest human in the world, Krillin!Continue Reading→
Last week I lauded the Pokemon D-Arts Mewtwo figure as the greatest Pokemon action figure ever made. Unfortunately for Mewtwo, it’s a short-lived tenure at the top, as the second D-Arts Pokemon figure was released just a few weeks after him, and has already usurped Mewtwo’s top spot! He’s the fully-evolved form of one of the Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow starters and among the most popular Pokémon of all time: known as Lizardon in Japan, it’s the Pokemon D-Arts Charizard figure!Continue Reading→
If there’s a Robot Damashii SIDE MS figure I wasn’t expecting to see announced this week–or ever–it’s the Robot Spirits Divine Testament Gundam.
If you’re scratching your head wondering just where in the world this Gundam design comes from, you’re not the only one! Flying in straight out of the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Astray manga series, the Robot Damashii Divine Testament Gundam is one of the most obscure Robot Spirits figures yet…Continue Reading→
